XML File Documentation – Google Format

Important information about variants:
In this file, each product size variant appears as a separate <item> entry. Variants (e.g., XS, S, M, L, XL) are grouped within a single model using the g:item_group_id field, and the variant size is passed in the g:size field.

Product Variant Structure

Each <item> element describes a single product variant (specific size). This means that for one model, there are several items in the file – one for each size.

The product name (title) contains size information at the end, which facilitates variant distinction in e-commerce systems.

Below is an example fragment of an XML file. The code is displayed in technical form and can be copied.

Grouping Variants

g:item_group_id – common product model identifier (groups variants)

g:id – unique item (variant) identifier in the file

g:size – variant size (e.g., XS, S, M, L)

title – product name (often also includes size)

All variants of one model share the same g:item_group_id, but each variant (size) has its own g:id and g:size.

Identifiers – How to Best Map Products in Integration

For building connections and updating products in e-commerce systems, we recommend basing integration on the g:gtin and g:item_group_id fields.

g:gtin (EAN) is unique for the variant (size) and works best as the main variant identifier in integrations.
g:item_group_id allows recognizing the main product (model) and linking all sizes to it.

The g:id field is a technical item identifier in the file. In your feed, it has a complex format (e.g., 539-15475) and should not be used as the main mapping key.

Product Codes (MPN) and Variant Identification

g:mpn – variant code (usually contains size, e.g., 114-3-S)

g:brand – brand (e.g., numoco)

g:gtin – variant barcode (EAN)

If your integration requires an SKU/variant code, g:mpn is most often used. For unambiguous variant identification, g:gtin is recommended.

Prices and Availability

g:price – variant price

g:sale_price – sale price (if applicable)

g:availability – variant availability (e.g., in stock / out of stock)

g:condition – product condition (new)

Prices and availability apply to a specific variant (size) because each size is a separate item.

Images and Links

link – link to the product

g:image_link – main product image

g:additional_image_link – additional images (0+)

Product Description

The product description is located in the description field and may contain text and simple HTML formatting.

Dimension information may be included in the description, whereas the variant size always results from the g:size field.

Categories and Additional Attributes

g:product_type – internal product category

g:google_product_category – Google standard category

g:gender – attribute (e.g., female)

g:age_group – attribute (e.g., adult)

Technical Summary

In this file, each size is a separate entry, and variants of one model are grouped. Recommended mapping: g:gtin (variant) + g:item_group_id (model).
